While the Twin Tiers is not expected to get the large amount of snow hitting the east coast, there are still serious weather concerns for the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning from 10 p.m. January 4 through 7 a.m. Sunday for the area with dangerous wind chills of up to 30 below zero possible.

Areas to the east and southeast of Binghamton had been looking at the potential for a few inches of snow, but the Winter Weather Advisory that had been in place was lifted.

New York State Electric and Gas says it is ready for the winter weather in its service area.  There are concerns that high winds could bring down power lines.  NYSEG says it is pre-positioning personnel to make sure resources are in place to quickly restore power should outages occur.

Power outages can be reported to NYSEG at 1-800-572-1131.

As always, people are warned to stay away from any downed wires since those lines may or may not be active electric wires.
