A couple of weeks ago, I was talking with Alicia Davis who works at the Binghamton YMCA and wondered if any of the guys who take advantage of their housing until they're able to get back up on their feet ever return to volunteer or make donations as a way to pay it forward. She said that they absolutely do and quite often are the biggest givers.

Sometimes the people with the biggest and most giving hearts are the ones who haven't had an easy go at life. More often than not, those who've received help from friends, strangers and the community are the first to give back just as soon as they're able.

This is the perfect example- a single mom of three boys has become quite the inspiration for those around her by donating her time to a homeless shelter- the same one she and her boys lived in not so long ago.2020

Nine years ago, Katrinia Freeman found herself homeless with no place to go and so she and her family leaned on the services of the Portsmouth Area Resources Coalition Family Shelter. Today she's a special volunteer there.

Katrinia could have given up, but she didn't. She kept pushing forward for her kids and now that she's on her feet again, she is giving back to the place that helped pick her up on the floor and she's doing so with hopes that other moms having a tough time will be encouraged by her inspiring story.

If you know someone who's giving back to others and paying forward kindness, we'd love to hear about them. Share your Little Lovin' Moment and you could win a $50 gift card!
