One of my friends posted the following on Facebook, "I don't know why I live my life exhausted... I swear from the time my alarm goes off until I climb back in bed at night I'm beat!"

Exhaustion, both mental and physical, is becoming more and more common, especially in working women and even more so in working moms.

Researchers studying this growing problem have found that women who put in long hours through the course of their careers might pay a horrible price- life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease and cancer.

The researchers say that women who worked an average of 60 hours or more a week over the course of three decades were at triple the risk of diabetes, cancer, heart trouble, and arthritis than women who didn't put in more than 60 hours of work each week for the same amount of time.

You might think you're in the clear because you don't work 60 hours a week, but the risk for serious, even fatal illness starts to climb for women who put in more than 40 hours of work a week and just gets worse from there.

Men, on the other hand, don't appear to be as affected by long hours. Researchers believe that it might be because most, not all, don't have as many responsibilities around the house and are able to relax when they get home from work.
