Remember the saying "Don't step on a crack, it'll break your momma's back?" Turns out, that's not true. Phew! But a study I found over on Delish is now showing that hanging out with your mother is what'll keep her alive longer. Time to invite her over for dinner!

Researchers at the University of California in San Francisco have found that loneliness plays a big role in the decline that is so often associated with old age. Almost 23% of lonely participants (those who weren't regularly visited by friends and family) died within six years of the study, as opposed to only 14% of those that reported adequate companionship.

Spending quality time with friends and relatives of an older generation both helps them and us as well. This is undeniable. They get companionship and conversation that they want and need, and we get their stories; stories that only they know. Of course, it doesn't hurt that grandmas and moms make really delicious cookies, too. That definitely helps.
