It seems that no matter how someone thinks they are trying to be helpful, the words never seem to come out right. I think their heart is in the right place. But, it still gets annoying when people think they need to voice their opinion.

I am referring to people always trying to offer up advice or words of encouragement with my journey to get healthy. Believe it or not, your opinion might be doing the opposite of being helpful. If you really want to be helpful, then DON'T help!

We all know shaming someone into dropping pounds doesn't work, but new research says judging comments like; "You probably shouldn't eat that burger," can make people actually regain weight they've lost.

To prevent a Critical Cathy from weighing you down, "tell her how her words make you feel, since she may not be aware," says psychologist Susan Albers, Psy.D., author of EatQ. Then praise any behoviors that give you a boost like joining you for a job. If the nagging persists, try your best not to react. "Behaviors we reinforce continue, and those we ignore should stop," says Albers. (Women's Health)
