So I was driving down 17 towards Endicott (from Binghamton) the other day, and there was a small construction zone. The 'left lane ends & merge' sign was about a mile away from the actual work zone, but of course people waited until the last minute to get over. Speeding up in the left lane passing the long line of cars (including myself) waiting in the right lane just to move.

Well what if I said that those ass**** drivers.... are actually right! Apparently it's called the "zipper merge" method, and it makes traffic move 35% faster... SERIOUSLY!!!! If everyone does it, the two lanes look like a zipper coming together.

This new find came from the Department of Transportation in Kansas, however officials in Colorado have been trying to get people to do it for over a decade (who knew!).

Also to be clear about this.... they're not talking about people who drive on the shoulder, those people are doing it wrong and you can hate them all you want hahah!
