An event organized to show solidarity with the victims of the Florida high school shooting incident is planned for Binghamton.

Johnson City High School senior Benjamin Reynolds said students from across Broome County are expected to participate in the local march on Saturday.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Reynolds said he has worked with other area students and local organizations to prepare the local march. It will be one of several hundred similar events taking place in the United States.

Reynolds said participants in the Binghamton march are expected to gather around midday near the high school on Main Street.

The students plan to walk past the American Civic Association building on Front Street where a shooter killed 13 people and wounded four others in April 2009. They'll stop at the ACA Memorial at Front and Clinton streets for a moment of silence.

The marchers then will proceed to the Federal Building on Henry Street where students will deliver speeches.

Seventeen people were killed by a shooter on February 14 at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
