“Shh! Don’t talk while the TV is on!” We’ve all said this at one point or another when our favorite program is on, but now we might be saying that because the TV is actually listening to our personal conversations!

We rely so much on Siri and other voice controls with our electronic devices but how much are they really helping us? According to Huffington Post, there have been reports of eavesdropping on Samsung’s Internet connected Smart TV’s voice controls. So if you’re one of those people who are paranoid about your new purchase and it’s past the return date, then you may want to check out our list of suggestions.

  • Don’t push that button. Avoid pushing the microphone button on the remote.
  • Turn it off. On the settings menu there is a feature you can turn off to deactivate the voice controls.
  • Turn off the WiFi. Turning off the WiFi eliminates the eavesdropping.

The company stated that although they send the consumer’s personal conversations to a third party the information is not sold or stored.
