For those who don't know, my grandfather, who I have always called 'Poppy', passed away last month. My Uncle Randy, myself and my children were fortunate enough to be with him, holding his hand until the end. What a privileged that was. Even in those final moments, he knew he was surrounded by love.

My family has been through a lot over the last few years. Claiming that it hasn't been easy, is a complete understatement. Between my uncle, who was more like a brother than an uncle, being involved in an accident and suffering a severe brain injury, my mother becoming very ill and battling her sickness, my grandmother suffering from a brain tumor, my father drowning while my children were with him, and my Poppy suffering from Alzheimer's, it's been a rough few years.

Please take a moment to read this beautiful story that honors my Poppy. This perfectly depicts his life while showing how selfless and loving he truly was. His story was in yesterday's Sunday paper or you can click here to read.
