Weird News Wednesday – Police Catch Robbers by Following the Macaroni Salad Trail

This story made me laugh, not only because it is hilarious, but it also happened not that far from here!

According to the Huffington Post, police in Mt. Morris, New York, apprehended three burglary suspects on Sunday. The three allegedly broke into Build-A-Burger Restaurant, and stole a cash register along with the restaurant's entire surveillance system. And if that wasn't enough they decided to steal a big vat of macaroni salad!

After robbing and leaving the restaurant, the burglars escape route was on foot along a trail. The three apparently took turns eating scoops of macaroni salad as they were escaping.

Police officers were notified that the restaurant had been robbed and they were able to literally followed the macaroni trail to find the suspects.

The three have been charged with third degree burglary, third degree criminal mischief and fourth degree grand larceny. And one of the men also faces charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance.

They have been booked into the county jail. Fortunately for the business owner, most of the stolen property has been recovered...however the macaroni salad is forever gone.
